Live By The Spirit Of God

Salam,
Now you know how people say "hello" in Afghanistan.
I believe you're fine this morning,

Verse of the Day : Galatians 5:7-18  (The Message)

7.You were running superbly! Who cut in on you, deflecting you from the true course of obedience? 8.This detour doesn’t come from the One who called you into the race in the first place. 9.And please don’t toss this off as insignificant. 10. It only takes a minute amount of yeast, you know, to permeate an entire loaf of bread. Deep down, the Master has given me confidence that you will not defect. But the one who is upsetting you, whoever he is, will bear the divine judgment.
11. As for the rumor that I continue to preach the ways of circumcision (as I did in those pre-Damascus Road days), that is absurd. Why would I still be persecuted, then? If I were preaching that old message, no one would be offended if I mentioned the Cross now and then—it would be so watered-down it wouldn’t matter one way or the other. 12. Why don’t these agitators, obsessive as they are about circumcision, go all the way and castrate themselves!
13. It is absolutely clear that God has called you to a free life. Just make sure that you don’t use this freedom as an excuse to do whatever you want to do and destroy your freedom. Rather, use your freedom to serve one another in love; that’s how freedom grows. 14.For everything we know about God’s Word is summed up in a single sentence: Love others as you love yourself. That’s an act of true freedom. 15. If you bite and ravage each other, watch out—in no time at all you will be annihilating each other, and where will your precious freedom be then?
16. My counsel is this: Live freely, animated and motivated by God’s Spirit. Then you won’t feed the compulsions of selfishness. 17. For there is a root of sinful self-interest in us that is at odds with a free spirit, just as the free spirit is incompatible with selfishness. These two ways of life are antithetical, so that you cannot live at times one way and at times another way according to how you feel on any given day. 18. Why don’t you choose to be led by the Spirit and so escape the erratic compulsions of a law-dominated existence?

For Reflection
Presently there are so many Christian voices and so many secular voices, there are other voices that also sound like Christian but aren't, whom do you follow?  God has called us to a free life.  He's given us freedom to make choices. We are free to choose to be led either by our own understanding or by the Spirit.
If you choose to be led by the spirit of God you're safe but if you rely on your own understanding then you are at a higher risk of falling into the traps of the devil.
Yesterday I was sharing with my colleagues at the office how people are misquoting the Bible. Someone once told me that it's not sinful to have a side plan in marriage since even David in the Bible, had an affair with a neighbour's wife. So I responded by giving back a challenge I asked him if he would really sleep with his own mother since Reuben in the same Bible did so. He said No. I didn't blame him I knew it's the tricks of devil to devour man. In understanding the word of God, you need to be led by the spirit. Yes, David, Abraham and many other people of God had affairs but the major point that you should arrive at is all the actions were considered sinful and they only obtained forgiveness through admission, confession and repentance.

Prayer
Pray for the capacity for compassion.  Pray for the capacity for forgiveness.  Pray for the capacity to become selfless. Pray that from today henceforth you need to be led and live by the spirit of God. Pray that God gives you the best interpretation as you read and rely on His Word.

Blessed Day!
